NYRR MILLROSE GAMES 2018

USA 4x800M relay team of Chrishuna Williams, Raevyn Rogers, Charlene Lipsey and Ajee Wilson (pictured) took the world record of 8:05:89 at the armory.

I was in a funk this past week, trying to find some work-life balance but I also wasn't running... My shin was hurting more than usual, so I figured: better to sit out one or two weeks instead of running 'through' it. The bitter NYC cold doesn't help either but my friend Kalli invited me to come out to The Armory couple weeks ago and since I wasn't doing a long run anyway this Saturday morning, why not? Plus, this was my very first time at The Armory! Days before I also thought about these words: make track great again. Something I read on Nick Roches shirt during the Boston Marathon '17.

While on the A Train on our way uptown, Kalli and James tried posting something on Instagram because they had a Women's DMR team toeing the line for North Brooklyn Runners. In conversation, they mentioned something about me being the Millenial, and I joked that I was born into social media. Funnily enough, many hours later, as we were watching the pro athletes putting down a stellar performance, one of the girls who competed in the Mile and set a new high school record for her school and me took videos and Boomerangs on our phones... "I like to stand here by the track, on eye level with the athletes," her teammate said. I agreed. We all watched with excitement as history was made this weekend. So many PR's and even a new world record were set here. Yes, even when the officials came over to give away some of the finish line tapes, we took them with joy. We stretched our hands to congratulate the USA 4 x 800M relay team and left that evening full of inspiration. A day full of track! Tired, but happy. On top of that, I was super stoked to see both Emma Coburn and Aisha Praught-Leer competing - it was a good reminder of how women, female friends can train and race together.

So, here is your Millenial, taking pictures with a DSLR camera, editing them with the VSCO app and loading them up to her personal blog! Another reminder to self: pick up your camera more often :)
